With the Return to Terminal project growing in size a definate shift was starting to emerge in the sound. One track from this period was annexed for the Terminal project and retitled to show it's shift. The Terminal project was then officially announced closed and the new Exile 13 project was sketched out and initiated.
Exile 13 carried a new sound, as outlined: 1. Harsh 2. Static 3. Electrical 4. Threatening 5. Circuits 6. Dangerous to speakers
From the memo from R. Decline: "I want it to sound like Japan during world war 2 while it was being bombed, if Japan was made up of living archived and outdated electronic parts. The final item on the list, "Dangerous to speakers" may have been brought over from Decline's SF band under which they released albums with the motto: "So dangerous a hundred miles of shielded cable can not save your speakers" and had notoriously blown quite a few stereo systems. For the Exile 13 project Decline also began experimenting with low vibrating trembling frequencies as well as much harsher in the red amp clipping distorted noises that throw the listener into an instant migrane. "I want the listener to interact with the music, with their system, to be aware something is happening, that a speaker is going to go or their head is going to hurt, I want constant adjustments to have to be made."
The Exile 13 project is still in, what seems to be un-ending, development.
Willing to give up some dirt laundry, Decline has handed over three little mostly unfinished works. Why he is holding out with the finished stuff is beyond us.
Note from Decline: End 2 is silly. It is the result of not enough sleep, and too much recording and mixing. We sat there fairly exhausted with the recorders running and dinked this out with a drummer doing all he could to at least keep kicking the bass drum every so often.
